Activities & Events

Are you planning a trip to the Shenandoah Valley? Why not consider an extended visit to Luray, Virginia! Luray is a one stop wonder offering so much to do and see. Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast is located in close proximity to  many activities.

Luray Caverns, which I would imagine put Luray, VA on the map many years ago continues to draw hundreds of thousand of guests annually. They now offer audio tours instead of the 1 hour guided tour which seems to be a hit.

Jordan Hollow Riding Stable is located about 10 minutes from the bed and breakfast. Lisa offers a 2 hour private ride, 1 1/2 & 2 hour group ride, a half or full day ride. Lisa’s love for horses shows as they are well kept. She goes out of her way to ensure that each guests experiences a great ride. Take a look at our current 2 hour private ride package.

Wisteria Farm & Vineyard which opened last year,  has been very well received by many of our guests. Several have returned with a bakers dozen which is a compliment to the wine maker and tells you that their wine must be tasty! Check out their Calendar of Upcoming Events. There are also quite a few other wineries within a 30 minute drive of Piney Hill such as Gadino and Rappahannock Cellars.

Shenandoah River Outfitters have officially opened for the season and are in their 40th year. They offer canoes, kayaks and tubes. I have been tubing during the warmer months and like that they offer a special tube for you to take a cooler for drinks and sandwiches. They also have a Canoe & Steak Dinner package which you can see on the web site. We offer a canoe packages to our guests as well.

Shenandoah National Park which is located on the Skyline Drive has been the destination for many outdoor enthusiast. You can enjoy whatever type of hike you desire from short and easy to long and strenuous. The one good thing that came out of our snowy winter; 60 plus inches for 2009 is the waterfall hikes. They are spectacular right now!! We would recommend Dark Hollow and Rose River Falls. We are hoping to do Old Rag this year. It’s more of a strenuous hike, but I’ve heard, “well worth it” from many of our guests.

May 8th is our annual Festival of Spring which will consume Main Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please visit our “area attractions” page for other Festivals and Fairs throughout the year.

One last thing that I would like to mention and I’m sure that I will touch base on many other upcoming attractions and events so be sure to check back. Captain Bo has recently started offering River Cruises in his pontoon boat on the Shenandoah River. His season is just gearing up so give him a call as he has several types of cruises to choose from.

Hope to see you soon! The beauty of the Shenandoah Valley awaits you!!
