Hank and I went up to Skyline Drive in between Check INs and Check OUTs with a couple of friends on Saturday, May 4, 2013.  This spring is starting out beautiful with temperatures in the high 60’s, low 70’s.  I hope that it continues for another month or so.  🙂

We choose to hike the Stony Man trail; a 1.6 mile gradual hike to a spectacular view of the Page County area.  What a beautiful day it was, especially with good friends to share it with.Stony Man Trail Views

Stony Man trail is the second highest peak in the Shenandoah National Park.  Viewed from the North, Stony Man Mountain resembles the face of a bearded man.

  • Stony Man is located between Milepost 41&42.
  • Turn in to the Skyland Lodge entrance
  • The trail is located directly to the right.

This hike is perfect for all ages.   Afterwards you might enjoy lunch or dinner at Skyland Lodge.

Enjoy this hike and many others while exploring the Shenandoah National Park.  The ranger located at the guard gate is more than happy to offer advice on other hikes depending on your physical abilities.
