Governor Lifts Mask Mandate to Align with CDC Guidance, Announces Virginia to End COVID-19 Mitigation Measures on May 28, 2021

Governor Northam has lifted Virginia’s universal indoor mask mandate to align with new guidance from the CDC that was released yesterday.

What does this mean?
  • Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
  • People who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated are strongly encouraged to wear masks in all settings.
  • In addition, the Governor has announced that all COVID-19 mitigation measures, such as social distancing and capacity requirements, will end on May 28.

Luray, VA is Open for Business:

  • Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast does not require masks if you are fully vaccinated. With the rise in delta  variant cases, protective masks are encouraged when visiting local restaurants and businesses. Those that are not vaccinated are encouraged to wear their protective masks.   We are following the above guidelines. Your Innkeepers; Hank & Wiley are fully vaccinated, receiving our last shot in early March 2021.
  • Local and area businesses have re-opened, but may still require protective masks indoors.
  • Local restaurants are open and pick-up also offered. Please be patient with our local and area restaurants as the pandemic has left them short staffed and unable to fill positions. They are working hard to provide you a nice experience. Each restaurant has their own policies and may continue to require masks until further notice.
  • Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park are open to enjoy the overlooks & hiking; weather permitting.
  • Luray Caverns, the Car & Carriage Museum and Heritage Museum are open for tours.
  • Local horseback riding stables are open; weather permitting.
  • Local and Area wineries, breweries and distilleries are open
